  • The Japanese language was initially introduced in a Chinese writing style to the Japanese people. The Japanese language did not have a writing style until the 5th century.
  • The Japanese adopted the Chinese phoneme science to write pure Japanese. The words adopted the Chinese characteristics but were of Japanese sound to mold the language in its own terms.
  • The language continued to evolve where Kanji was uniformly used to write local and borrowed words. However, they were simplified to represent the two scripts; katakana and hiragana.
  • The katakana and hiragana evolved from Kanji and hiragana in the ninth century. The hiragana dialect was used for informal use. In contrast, Kanji was used for formal settings such as office and business workplaces.
  • Due to the informality and freeness of the katakana dialect, it prevailed significantly in the tenth century.
