Kings of Translation Area of Expertise

  • A professional Croatian translation in the medical sector includes translating pharmaceutical products and necessary surgical guidelines. Linguists may also be hired to translate medical reports and research findings. These are usually performed by specialists since the translation’s requirements vary from country to country. This ensures proper communication in the healthcare industry.
  • Kings of Translation also offers patent translations performed by legal experts and experienced patent translators. Unfortunately, novice linguists are incapable of performing patent translations because of industry-specific terms and unfamiliarity with the information regarding the invention.
  • Clients hire a language service provider to translate business agreements and contracts. Moreover, since the legalese language is quite complicated, the possibility of miscommunication and misinterpreting is not far off. Therefore, working with a linguist will ensure the contracts are easier to understand for the relevant parties involved. These experts know precisely how to undertake such translations because of their skill level.
  • There are rare occasions where you might require a license translation. A driving license authenticates your understanding of traffic laws and vehicular mechanics. It mentions the license number, issue and expiry date, and insurance information. Such translations are requested by transport and employment agencies for cross-border transfer of goods.

How to translate Croatian?

  • A Croatian noun has three genders which are neuter, feminine, and masculine. The nouns end in –a are feminine, and -o and –e is used for neuter nouns. Furthermore, the noun has nominative, dative, accusative, locative, vocative, genitive, and instrumental cases. As a result, the noun cases and gender impact verb, pronoun, and adjective in a professional Croatian translation.
  • The adverbs in the Croatian language do not inflect or change their form. However, the adverbs identify the manner, cause, point, amount, and time of action. Some of the common Croatian adverbs include vrlo (very), ovdje (here), and uvijek (always).
  • Sentences in a professional Croatian translation are not subjected to a particular order. This is because nouns and adjective conjugations determine the structure. As a result, the Croatian language is quite flexible. However, for the sake of argument, the subject-verb-object system is commonly adopted.
  • A Croatian verb has a grammatical type of tense, person, voice, aspect, and mood. Furthermore, the verb has seven tenses too; future I and II, pluperfect, aorist, past, present, and imperfect. Aorist and imperfect are used in everyday speech. Lastly, optative tense is used to denote urges and wishes.

Eye-opening facts about the Croatian language!

  • The biggest word in the Croatian language is prijestolonasljednikovičičinima. It consists of 32 letters if you consider lj as a single letter. Otherwise, some argue lj are two different alphabets. The word means “of little heiress apparent for the throne.” Due to the context, the term is commonly used in children’s tales and old folklores.
  • The first person to speak Croatian on an official stage was Kukuljević Sakcinski on 2nd May 1843. His words in the parliamentary speech were very inspiring, leading to Croatian’s linguistic development. The member argued removing Croatian as an official language at the time meant abandoning their national culture. He urged everyone to welcome and embrace it.
  • The standard form of Croatian was not developed until the 19th century. Ljudevit Gaj is accredited for standardizing the language in 1835, inspired by the Slovakian, Polish, and Czech characters. The alphabets he introduced are still used in Bosnia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Croatia.
  • The Croatian language is older than Latin. Some of the initial Croatian texts, such as Istraski Razvod, date back to the 11th century. On the other hand, Latin texts’ timelines began in the 14th century. With the timeline, Latin is at least 300 years younger than Croatian. However, the Croatian language incorporates the Latin alphabet today.
